Perfecting Your Golf Swing

Which do you think is worse, hearing “Fore!” or four over par on your scorecard? Many people who play golf do so with a hope that their game will improve over the last round they shot. Chances are if you swing the ball all over the course the last time, you are going to do it again. Improving your game and hitting the ball straight is possible if you just take into account why you are swinging the ball in the first place.

In order to know what is causing your swing you need to see how you are lining up with the ball. The first aspect of golf is to relax as most swings come from over-compensating your drive. Most swings occur from the tee too. The best method to see how you are slicing a ball is to line up your clubface with the ball. Your club has a rounded bottom to help drive the ball with as much force as possible.

The best way to go about correcting the issue is to bring a friend to watch so he can study your aim when you hit the ball. You’ll want to make sure to line up the ball with the sweet spot on the clubface in mind. An outside observer is the best way to spot and fix any problems with your swing, unless you are able to make a trip to a pro golf shop or driving range with technology that can analyze your swing automatically.

Before you can equate distance into your drive you need to make sure you are hitting it straight down the fairway. A driving range will allow you make some contact but if you are not swinging through properly the course will only make matters worse. Keep your stance solid, lifting your foot like a baseball player takes you off balance.

There is an old time trick that many golfers are unaware of. The trick is this: in a golf game, all of the distance should be juiced out of the ball in your drive, so that you end with a short game and save par. Golfers with the ability to powerfully hit a ball down the fairway have a big advantage over that lose time traipsing through the woods in search of a lost ball.

The best method to hit a straight ball is to drive it while on your knees. Now I know it sounds silly but if you have ever tried it then you know that it’s virtually impossible for you to lift one knee off the ground while you hit the ball. Your arms are straighter and you are close enough to the ball you can feel the fluid motion it takes.

Try this a few times and you will know what a proper swing really feels like. Your body should not twist and aim your ball in any direction but straight down the fairway. You can practice the same movement while standing on your feet.

After you’ve mastered the steps that will keep your ball on the fairway, you’ll find that you hit it there each and every time. Of course, you won’t be making two hundred yard drives from a kneeling position, but you won’t be driving like this forever. Have a friend at your side to help with your aim, and keep in mind that you shouldn’t look up too soon or else all you’ll get is an eye full of a bad shot.

You can have that perfect swing to make your gold experience be the best as it should be!
